ENCATC Congress 2025

The ENCATC Congress 2025— the European Network on Cultural Management and Policy’s flagship international gathering—is scheduled from 15 to 17 September 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. With the theme “The Future Is Cultural: Policy, Practice, and Education,” the Congress will spotlight culture’s role in shaping sustainable, equitable, and regenerative futures by integrating cultural values into development strategies.

Organised in collaboration with Universitat de Barcelona, Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and the Espronceda Institute of Arts & Culture Culture, the Congress brings together scholars, educators, cultural professionals, and policymakers. It will feature an interdisciplinary programme including keynotes, panel discussions, academic papers, project showcases, workshops, ENCATC Talks, and an engaging study tour.

Highlights include:

• A keynote address by Ernesto Ottone Ramírez(Assistant Director-General for Culture, UNESCO), followed by expert panel discussion on how cultural policy and management can navigate global geopolitical and technological challenges.
• Two distinguished awards: the ENCATC Award for Outstanding Contribution , and the ENCATC Research Award recognizing exceptional doctoral research in the field.
• The concurrent Research Conference , inviting abstract submissions under thematic tracks including culture and quality of life; justice and rights; governance; digitalisation; entrepreneurship; crises; and education.
• In-person Focus Group sessions leading up to the MONDIACULT Conference, allowing participants to contribute policy recommendations on climate action, cultural rights, digital technologies, heritage, and the economy of culture.
• A pre-Congress Study Tour on 13–14 September in and around Barcelona (e.g., Fira Tàrrega), offering hands-on exploration of cultural management practices before the main sessions.
