The Chartered Culture and Education Institute (CCEI) is proud to announce the upcoming launch of the World Culture Index (GCI) in 2026, a groundbreaking initiative set to redefine how cultural institutions are measured, celebrated, and supported on the global stage.

The CCEI World Culture Index is the world’s first international benchmarking and global ranking system dedicated to evaluating museums, libraries, heritage sites, and cultural institutions based on four key pillars: impact, innovation, inclusion, and sustainability. At a time when culture plays an increasingly vital role in shaping societies, Culture Index provides an essential tool for governments, funders, researchers, and the public to identify and support cultural excellence worldwide.

Why the World Needs a Culture Index?

In the field of education, global rankings such as QS World University Rankings or Times Higher Education have long helped benchmark performance, attract investment, and guide public understanding. However, no such unified, data-driven system exists for the cultural and heritage sector, a sector that is equally vital to human development, social cohesion, and global diplomacy.

To ensure the highest standards of credibility and excellence, CCEI is actively seeking collaboration with global partners, including governments, international organizations such as UNCTAD, UNESCO, ICOM, IFLA, ICCROM, ICESCO, TURKSOY, ALECSO, the African Union, ASEAN, as well as national cultural and heritage institutions, non-profits, and other key stakeholders. These partnerships will help shape the Global Culture Index into a truly inclusive and globally respected benchmark for cultural impact.
